An All-digital UWB Transmitter in 90-nm CMOS

چکیده
Pulsed ultra-wideband (UWB) transceivers offer the potential for ultra-low-energy/bit operation because the signals are inherently duty-cycled. By eliminating components with long startup times, such as a phase-locked loop, all components in a pulsed-UWB transceiver can be disabled during the interval between pulses. This work focuses on an all-digital, pulsed-UWB transmitter that requires no analog bias currents, in which the energy is dissipated only in switching events, i.e., CV2, and by sub-threshold leakage currents.

Abstract—The design of a differential K-band UWB (Ultra Wideband) Short Range Radar (SRR) transmitter in 90 nm bulk CMOS is presented. Implementation of SRRs in deep submicron CMOS technology is attractive, in terms of cost and monolithic integration of RF font-end with signal baseband processor. The transmitted pulse bandwidth limits the range resolution of the radar system. Due to the wide ba...

In this paper a 75 pJ/b all-digital quadrature coherent impulse radio ultra-wideband transceiver in 0.18μm CMOS is presented. It consumes 42mW operating at a 560Mbps datarate. The receiver and transmitter share most of the components reducing the area. This design is optimal for low-power low-cost short-range high-speed communications.

Along with rapid development of sensing and communication technology, Internet of Things (IoTs) has enabled a tremendous number of applications in health care, agriculture, and industry. As the fundamental element, the wireless sensing node, such as radio tags need to be operating under micro power level (e.g, 100 μW, Pico radio) for energy autonomy. The evolution of electronics towards highly ...
